The "Heart" Behind
Worship Aware

Worship Aware was conceptualized in 2009 as a result of visiting various churches, hearing worship services that were musically deficient and/or sonically annoying. As frequent mistakes took attention away from Jesus, I desired to solve these problems by creating a sound-tech training program. But the more I studied the problems, I learned that a techs-only program would be incomplete because the tech's choices are often in response to the singer's/musician's choices. I could no longer conclude that worship's entire sound rested on techs alone.

Worship Aware evolved to include stage-team training, improving every source from the stage before it reached the sound booth. This made team training more "wholistic" but still incomplete. Why? Because "musical" and "technical" choices made by techs and stage-members are influenced by relational qualities. Are we willing to be a part of a team or would we rather do our own thing? Are our choices influenced by the people we work with, for better or worse? How does our relationship with Jesus influence those relationships? Do spiritual qualities like love, grace, peace and humility influence our relationships? Or are we motivated by pride and insecurity?

It became obvious that achieving "good sound" has just as much - if not more - to do with improving spiritual and relational qualities first. Many worship-team resources explain how to improve worship through technical methods. While I am thankful for them, there is precious little that describes the relationship between "spiritual-relational" qualities and "musical-technical" specifications. Most resources talk about spiritual disciplines apart from musical and technical disciplines, or technical specs apart from spiritual/relational qualities.

Worship Aware is the first resource to exhaustively describe how "spiritual-relational" qualities influence mathematical and quantifiable parameters of musical and technical disciplines, for every role on a worship team. Everyone is in relationship with each other, and those relationships change with the differences in technical requirements unique to each role. As I have played many worship-team roles, I have come to understand how each role interacts with all other roles, from the stage to the sound booth. As such, the four primary disciplines: spirituality, relationship, musicality, and technicality, are applicable to everyone equally.

By purchasing Worship Aware, I personally guarantee that your understanding of worship-team service will expand beyond your own role. This understanding will improve your relationship with God first and foremost, improve your relational skills, your musical skills, and increase your technical understanding that makes your team more efficient, while boosting your creative abilities, all at a shockingly affordable price.
